About Target Field Seating Chart 2017

Target Field is a home ballpark of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. After 28 seasons playing in Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Minnesota Twins transferred to Target Field during the 2010 Major League Baseball season. It is aptly named after a one of US’s largest retailer. Target Field is open-air ballpark located in downtown Warehouse District which witnessed the first time the Minnesota Twins played outdoor games since 1981 at Metropolitan Stadium. According to their ballpark’s website, its exterior was described as a modern take on the state’s natural creations and showcases Minnesota native trees, limestone, and other flora. On March 27, 2010, Target Field’s first baseball game was a college baseball game between Louisiana Tech and University of Minnesota. Twins’ regular inaugural season game happened on April 12, 2010 against their opponent, Boston Red Sox. ESPN Magazine ranked Target Field as the no. 1 stadium in North America beating 121 other stadiums.

Events that led to its Construction
The cost of building Target Field is nearly $500 million which was built after a decade-long dispute to replace Metrodome and their struggle in obtain funding for its construction from the State of Minnesota. In May 2006, the use of the new ballpark was made official by the Minnesota state legislature. According to the Minnesota’s legislation, $350 million will be the capital contributed by the county for costs associated with the construction and infrastructure. The Twins contributed an amount close to $130 million. A year after its state approval, the Twins officially announced their plans of constructing a new stadium. The Twins sealed partnership with Target Corporation and both agreed to name it Target Field on September 15, 2008.

Populous, a leading architectural design firm for sports facilities, decided not to create a model similar to vintage-style brick Camden Yards or modern designs featured in new Nationals Park, which are both designed by Populous. Instead, they designed the new Twins stadium using local limestone, heated field and heated viewing areas. There is no roof on the stadium; however, there is a canopy on the top deck.

The ballpark houses close to 40,000 seats with 18,500 seats in the lower deck with the three chief tier grandstands extending from the left field foul pole to home plate and then to the right field foul pole. 4,000 club seats, pressbox and 60 luxury suites are located between the lower and upper decks. It also features a double decked grandstand on the left field with extra seating on the right field.
Budweiser Roof Deck is located on the ballparks’ northwest side which features a bar, fire pit, 150 standing room for fans and bleacher seats. It offers its fans with an idyllic view of Target Field and Minneapolis skyline.
Fans can also grab their favorite snacks and beverages from the Legends Club Lounge, a place that pays homage to Twins Hall of Famers, the Met Club, a place located on the right field line and is accessible to all season tickets, and lastly, the Town Ball Tavern, which is open to all Minnesota amateur baseball fans. Once can also find themed concession stands all over Target Field which include the Hennepin Grille, Taste of Twins territory, Frankie V’s Italian and Senor Smokes.
